Bought a new toy at the fun store today

Springfield Armory M1a National Match rifle. Total out the door was $1800, including the ammo and the leather sling.

I can't wait to take this thing shooting this weekend.

I love shooting the M1A. Loads of fun and a nice sore shoulder the next day.

I'm hoping to snag a carbine from the CMP in May. That will probably be the last rifle I buy for a while, unless the CMP gets more Remington 40X's in.

Well, it is a National Match vesion, which is upgraded quite a bit over a standard M1A. They get more expensive than that, the Super Match versions and up can push up to $3000. This rifle I have here normally sells for a little higher than 1800, but the dealer got them on a sale, and was able to get me a good deal on it.

This is not where I got it from, but you can see what they average in price here - Mine is the first one on the list.

Well, technically it is not an M1 - it is an M14 clone. The civie version is just called the M1a.

It could be worse though, I could have gotten an LRB instead of a Springfield Armory - the LRB's start at around $2300
