Bought a new laptop yesterday.

After looking around for a week or two at reviews online, I found a laptop I think I will be happy with when it arrives. The asus Z70Va. I ordered this laptop with 1gb of ram, 2.0GHz centrino processor, an 8x dvd burner, an 80 gb hdd, and wireless a/b/g. The laptop itself comes with an ati x700 video card, and the screen is 15.4" with a native resolution of 1680x1050, the body is composed of a carbon-fiber alloy. It weighs in at 5.6 lbs, and the dimensions are 13.9" x 10.9" x 0.86"-1.34". I will try to get some pictures and a review up when it arrives sometime next week. Oh and supposedly this laptop gets 4 hours of battery life. When I first started looking for a new laptop I considered getting a dell, but then realized I would rather shoot myself than buy a dell, and the deals for Dells in Canada are not that great. Then I looked at the Acer Ferrari, it looked pretty nice, but wasn't quite what I was looking for, and I heard the reflectiveness of the casing made it easy to smudge with fingerprints. So the next laptop I looked at was an asus z71v, it looked ok, but was plastic and I am not a huge fan of Nvidia. So... shortly after hearing about the z71v I heard that there was a new laptop coming out at the beginning of September. The asus z70va, after reading a few reviews for the previous versions of this laptop (similar specs, video card not as good) I decided that this was the one for me, and ordered it from a company in Toronto called lu computers. Grand total with taxes and shipping was $2150 and they accepted credit card payment without charging the 3% fee thats usually charged by computer resellers for credit card payments.

Just ordered the same laptop! With P-M 1.86, 1gig DDR2, 40gig Fujitsu 5.4k, Intel A/B/G. Will hopefully have it monday/tuesday of next week.

i also ordered the same one. w/ P-M 2ghz, 1 gig ram, 60gig 7200rpm hd, all from rawpowerpc.com. im looking forward to getting it!

Mine just showed up yesterday morning, spent the day getting everything setup, installing all the random software thats needed on a pc. I even missed work, but the laptop isn't the only reason I missed it. I was still a bit upset about one of my friends who died in a motorcycle accident on monday.

Its so awesome... posting from class right now lol. The thing isn't loud at all like some of the forums say... only when I am gaming on a game that is graphically intensive. I like that you can choose the speed of the processor to increase battery life and performance or that you can increase the speed to make the machine faster. I am going to be posting a photo review sometime in the next two weeks once I have had some more time to play around with it and game wih it. I just need to buy a wireless mouse for the thing because its annoying using the touchpad. I don't think I will be getting used to that anytime in the near future... any recommendations for mice (wireless) that are fullsized but with a usbkey sized plugin (rather than a corded one (the old style with the IR port) or one with a docking station)?

I would have gotten an inspiron 9300 for about the same price... but didn't want a dell and didn't like the plasticky look of it.

Mine shipped out today... the bluetooth part deleayed it a bit since no one got a shipment of internal bluetooth version till late last week (friday). Hoping it comes tomorrow or thursday, only one state away.
