Wasn't there a way to get rid of some dead pixels? I think you have to put on a white background and turn up the brightness all the way up. I heard someplace that that can fix some dead pixels?

My compaq did when I got it.
FIrst of several problems for that POS. Finaly came to aggreement with compaq that they refunded part of my purchase price and were suppose to keep the stupd thing in their repair center. Dumb ppl sent me a check and sent me the dumb laptop with half the ram removed. Apparently last time they were working on it they damaged a stick of ram and sent it back in a barely working state. Lucky for them I was kind enough to tell them they were stupid and sent me the laptop. Next thing I know they send someone to my door to pick it up. Where the heck was that guy the first 4 times i had to send the stupid thing back?
Moral? Dont buy compaq.
I went with a dell the 2nd time.

You think one dead pixel is bad? Some manufacturers consider 5 to be the cutoff and still be a saleable LCD!

I heard you do that to fix a burnt in image, not bad pixels. I don't know if I believe any of this stuff for repairing burn in or dead/stuck pixels on an LCD. But I guess it's worth a try.

OMG IT HAS ONE DEAD PIXEL OMFG IM GOING TO SUE THOSE BASTARDS
do you realize how hard you have to be looking to see dead pixels? i just got my 19'' LCD and it has a blue pixel in the middle of the screen...RIGHT in the middle
guess how often i see it? umm never unless i purposely look for it
my last LCD...2 dead pixels in the upper right...guess how much i saw it? NEVER and i use the computer a LOT and i am picky
you just need to shut your trap and realize that it doesnt matter at all...it isnt going to hurt you or the laptop. if you get 10 more dead pixels, then send it back and demand
a fixed screen...but one? good lord

1 dead pixel is a big difference. When you buy something new.. You wouldnt buy a new car with a big scratch down the side would you? even though you know your kids or that dumb suv next to you gonna ding it in a week anyways.
Thats beside the point. Its very noticable when watching movies. You'll be watching a movie with a moving dark scene or something and tehres this one friggin dot that stands out.

Sorry, I didn't want to seem like I was complaining, just had to vent. I hate buying new stuff and I get a (albeit slightly) damaged product. When I buy a nonused item I expect everything to work (at least until the warrant runs out 😛).
