Bought a new computer - AMD64!!!

I finally made the jump to the "next" generation.

I just bought the following parts:

AMD XP3200+ (2.2GHz)
1 GB DDR Ram
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe board
BFG Geforce 6600GT Dual DVI w/ HDTV-Out
some round IDE cables
Thermaltake silent boost CPU cooler

I already have like 4 HDs that I'll connect to it.

I decided against 64-bit and PCI express seeing that most games and applications that I'll run won't utilize that technology to the fullest.

EDIT: I just cancelled the order, I'm going to go with AMD64.

----------------------------------------
EDIT: UPDATE: Just decided that I should really go with AMD64 and pushed the order button:

AMD64 3200+ Skt939
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI Mobo
BFG Geforce 6600 GT OC (PCI Express)
Corsair 1GB PC3200 DDR400 RAM
Round IDE cable

Total came out to be $757.

That cost more than the Inspiron I just bought with the last dell deal!

ummm... did you ever look at the benchmarks.... for games the 64 blows away everything out there... very pricy though.

looks like you got good bang for your buck... have fun 🙂

The BFG will make it look better... I hope.

wtf, a 64 2800+ would perform better and cost less than an XP 3200+....

well, at least you went with AMD, good job there

Yeh, but I'll still be able to run games like counterstrike, half life 2, far cry.

I paid $666 for all the parts so I'm happy. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for something that will be outdated the minute I build it.

I paid something like $640 for my A64 system a few months ago

It's not that much cheaper on pricewatch. Then I'd have to get a different motherboard at a higher price, etc, etc, etc.

Oh yeh, I would still be able to use my Innovatek water block with socketA, I don't want that going to waste either.

AMD? I'm sorry. 😛

AMD owns Intel in almost every benchmark out there

Yea, b/c a guy who went from a P3-800 to an XP 3200+ is gonna go "OMG the AMD pwnzers the Intel in the benchmarks, WTFBBQHI2U!". Compared to a similarly equipped P4:

The P4 beats out the XP 3200. So much for your statement about AMD owning Intel in almost every benchmark.

Hey, it's nicer than the rig I built in November.

Okay, I just looked into it more carefully. I decided to go with the new AMD64 and just cancelled my order. Should I get socket 939 or 754?
