When I tried to hook it up, they had real difficulty. It turns out the PIN was registered to another user. What do I do?

I have sent them an email, but they haven't yet responded.

Amazon is usually really quick (within 24 hours) to reply via email, and usually does everything right as far as returns/customer service goes.

I wouldn't fret; knowing Amazon they'll send you a new phone ASAP and schedule a pickup of the old one.

Amazon has always fixed my orders - usually in my favor! :) Would highly recommend them.

How did you figure out it was used (was it just the PIN)? I am about to buy a phone through them.

that's my experience too, they are pretty responsive via the toll free number even.

There were two things:

1) Marks and scratches on the front and back.
2) The carrier spent hours trying to hook up the phone using its PIN and IMEI. They finally realized that the process they were using was not working because it was not a new phone. Once they realized this, they were able to hook it up no problem.

If it's direct, then it shouldn't be a problem. Just give amazon time to respond to your email address. If you want to, you can always call them up as well.

The customer service rep responded to my email over the weekend. She said that they would be sending another new unit to me with overnight delivery. I got confirmation today that it was shipped so it should be here tomorrow.

Hopefully this one is new. If so, then they rectified the problem satisfactorily. Even still someone tried to pull a fast one (either Amazon, the manufacturer or the carrier) since the phone and all peripheral items were shrink wrapped, but the phone was clearly not new.

Also, this has cost me hours on hold while the reps tried to figure out what was wrong and a trip to the carrier's B&M store to get a new sim card. The ordeal is not yet over though since I will need to hook the new phone up and put it on my plan replacing the current phone. Who knows how long this will take.

if you have a sim card, it will not take long at all.

If you have a sim card, you should be able to just move it from one phone to another without having to call the cell provider.
