Bought a new case - HAF-X

Decided to replace my Antec 1200 with a roomier Cooler Master HAF-X. It's almost like Cooler Master built the case specifically for 3-way SLI. The cooling duct funnels air directly into my three 580s. Also purchased three 200mm Cooler Master Blue LED fans for the side (1x) and the top (2x). The rear 140mm fan was replaced with a 140mm Aerocool Blue Shark. I had originally purchased a Spectre 230mm blue LED fan for the front, but after turning the system on I noticed that it was more purple than blue. Instead, I put the 200mm fan from the Antec 1200 in the front. Additionally, I placed a 120mm Antec fan in the 5.25" bay for a little extra cooling.

I don't normally go for case bling, but that's really tastefully done.

Thank you kindly sir.

The 200mm and 120mm Antec fans in the front are a darker shade of blue, so I may end up getting 200mm and 120mm Cooler Master fans from Micro Center to put in there.

I was cleaning mine out tonight, and decided to flip the top fan down as an intake. It dropped my cpu temp during P95 by 6C on my H50. I would also think it would give the case a more positive pressure airflow and let less dust settle in the case. If you have the top apart, you might want to experiment with the top fan. I love this case.

I have the HAF 932, (little brother to yours) I love it. Plenty of room to work, plenty of room to move air, stock fans are great at moving enough air to keep things cooled...yet quiet enough that I don't hear them.

I ended up replacing the 200mm and 120mm Antec fans I had in the front. Went to Micro Center and purchased 200mm and 140mm Cooler Master blue LED fans. The 140mm fan fits perfectly in the 5.25" bay. It's almost like it was made for it. The drive clips on the side holds the fan in perfectly.

I bought the version with the red fan in the front and the rest non-LED fans. The blue LED fans were purchased separately. Micro Center didn't have the blue edition. Wish they did. Could have saved some money. I plan on selling the fans I replaced. There are a lot of other fans sitting around that I've had for several years. I'll be putting them up on FS/T as well.

Hello AdamK47, I bought this case last week and love it too.

Are you using more than one ssd? I was thinking about getting a second one but can't see any place to put it. Am I being a bit dense?

Nice setup! Looks great. 😀

By the way, what desk is that? I have a bunch of glass computer desks around the house / office, and that one looks pretty nice.

I just bought my dad a "red fan'd" HAF 932, a steal of a case at $149.99 shipped at 'egg now.

Truly a great case, I can only imagine how much better the X is with built in filters.

No even having to think hard, cable management was a breeze (two HDs, two DVDs, a card reader and using all the case's ports)

The HAF-X comes with only one mouting bracket for an SSD. I'm currently using one SSD, a 120GB Vertex 3. The drive did come with its own 2.5" to 3.5" mounting bracket though.

It's the Z-Line Designs Legacy Glass Top L-Desk.

I didn't like the corner piece, so I removed it and brought one of the ends in. Looks better to me and saves space. My previous desk was a Z-Line glass desk. I took one of the glass tops from it and placed it under this desk so that I could put the computer on it. Works very well and looks nice. The HAF-X allows the power supply to be mounted so that air is drawn from the bottom. Sitting it on top of the glass makes for better air flow to the power supply.

i have the 932 also. was constantly cleaning it out on the iside till i decided to make the bottom fan as exhaust along with the top and rear. case stays cleaner longer and have not had any heat issues. able to run my i5-750 @ 4.0ghz with corsiar a70 with relatively low temps.

I haven't done it yet, but I wouldn't mind cleaning out the front intake filters on the HAF-X. It's much easier to get access to compared to my Antec 1200. The front mesh holding the filter has tabs that snap on and off the front of the case. The filters on the 5.25" plates snap on and off easily thanks to the side tabs. With the Antec 1200 I had to open the case and unscrew each drive bay and remove them in order to get to the filters.

Hi Adam,

Your setup looks great! I love what you did with the desk. I also am using a HAF-X and one of my fans recently died.

I've been having trouble finding another fan that aligns properly with the HAF-X holes. Are you using the COOLER MASTER Megaflow 200 R4-LUS-07AB-GP 200mm Blue LED Case Fans?

Thanks!

By far the best filters EVER made... Aigo's Gold Stamp of Approval All over the place.

Thanks, I may pick them up later. I have an air cleaner in my computer room, so I don't get much dust in the HAF-X. I still get the very fine stuff though.
