Guys I bought a new car this past weekend. I got a 95 Trans Am 6 speed 67,000 miles, one owner car, it is in perfect condition. Only bad part is its got some aftermarket wheels but I'm going to look at some factory WS6 wheels today.

Its new to him. Kind of like the NBC marketing they had a few years back, "If you haven't seen it, its new to you"...

It's new to me, sorry. The post just wouldn't have the same ring "I bought an 8 year old"...I paid 8g's for it....I'll keep my name the same, I love sports cars the 5 Liter stangs are still sweeeeeet, just not quite as fast.

They don't make 5.0's anymore do they? 4.6's now I thought... heh. Rented a 4.6 convertible for a vegas trip recently. Fun.

Nice low mileage on that Tranny. It's just broken in. heh

First thing you need to do is chip it. That year had the funky shift lockouts so you could only be in the gear the computer wants you to be in, IIRC.

Thats not entirely true. It's got whats called skipshift so if you're driving away from a light not accelerating hard it forces you into 4th thats all, you simply drive 1st above 20mph to avoid it or uplug it, which is what I did. I'm no traitor, I just like all types of cars (if they're good cars) I DO NOT like the 4.6 Liter Stangs for a variety of reasons.

It's 1st to 4th. CAGS will kick in if you drive like a granny. Most people don't even worry about it or just unplug it or add a resistor.

I'd have to disagree strongly. My family (grandparents, uncle and mom) have owned five of them and after 50k miles they turn to crap. They burn oil, run rough aren't built too strong. I say they're not built strong because before my dad died he was cop. They were replacing the mod motors in the fords after about 80k miles, they'd just give up. They were in a chase one night and had three of the poop out on them. My dad's car LT1 car (caprice) that was hopped up pretty good for pursuits had 154k on it when he died and cops drive the snot outta those cars. The 5.0 motor is superb, it's a great motor and dang near bullet proof...4.6 not hardly...

I have to disagree with you; the 5.0L engine is not as robust as the 4.6L. I have worked on both and the 4.6L is a far better engine than the 5.0L ever was. I have only replaced three engines total, quit working as a mechanic in 1999, since it was introduce in 1992. And all three were abused. I have replaced quite a few 5.0L in the same number of years, not to mention the entire base engine repairs needed on those engines. Don't get me wrong I think the 5.0L is a fine engine, but it's just not as good as the 4.6L.

BTW, my mom has a 95 Marquis with 150K and it doesn't leak or burn any oil and still gets the same mileage as it did when new. The last 5.0L I had was a 86 Mustang LX and it started leaking oil at 20K.

All three of the 4.6s you replaced were 7 years old or newer. What was the average age of a 302 you were replacing?
