Just picked one up, couldn't pass on the deal that is going on over at Hot Deals. The quick question I have to ask now is with this new drive I will have 3 IDE devices and 3 ATAPI devices. I already have a Promise ATA133 card and currently have the below setup. I do alot of DVD ripping and Video editing, so I'm looking at maxmium performance. Using a 2.4 P4 w/ 512mb DDR PC2700

ATA133 CARD - PRIMARY CHANNEL - 80GB WD 7200RPM 8MB Buffer - BOOT DRIVE
ATA133 CARD - SECONDARY CHANNEL - 80GB WD 7200RPM 2MB Buffer - BACKUP DRIVE
MOTHERBOARD - PRIMARY CHANNEL - PIONEER DVD-R/RW 105
MOTHERBOARD - SECONDARY CHANNEL - MASTER - LITEON 32X CD-R/RW
MOTHERBOARD - SECONDARY CHANNEL - SLAVE - LITEON 16X DVD-ROM

With my current setup now, where would you put the new WD 200GB drive?

I'd say to put the two writers together on the same chain, unless you need to burn discs at the same time often.:)
It'd look like this then:

ATA133 CARD - PRIMARY CHANNEL - 80GB WD 7200RPM 8MB Buffer - BOOT DRIVE
ATA133 CARD - SECONDARY CHANNEL - 200GB WD drive

MOTHERBOARD - PRIMARY CHANNEL - master - PIONEER DVD-R/RW 105
MOTHERBOARD - PRIMARY CHANNEL - slave - LITEON 32X CD-R/RW
MOTHERBOARD - SECONDARY CHANNEL - MASTER - 80GB WD 7200RPM 2MB Buffer - BACKUP DRIVE
MOTHERBOARD - SECONDARY CHANNEL - SLAVE - LITEON 16X DVD-ROM

There - the 80GB 8MB-buffer drive and the 200GB drive are both on the Promise card; the writers are together, the 80GB backup drive sits on the motherboard's controller, and the Liteon DVD drive is available as a reader for disc-to-disc recording.

Thanks guys for your suggestions, but I'm going to do Jeff's suggestion since it seems like it would work the best for me. Thanks for the post Jeff.

Do you guys know what power cosumption I'm going to be using now? I'm using a Antec 420 watt PS, and I don't know how much more it can handle with 3 ATAPI drives and 3 IDE drives with a P4.
