Bought a house... I OWN IT! **Remodeling photos!

And now I am remodeling my new home, it was beaten up a bit inside so I have had to do some real chores to get it where I want it to be just to move in.

The paint was horrid, so i am repainting all three bedrooms and the living room, hallway and kitchen and bathroom. This is my biggest task so far, so i am going to post some before and after photos of the house as I work on it (for this interested)

A rundown of before:

Living room and hallway are a really bad blue color,
One bedroom is pale yellow
One bedroom is purple and white spatter style paint
One bedroom is pink with dark red/mauve trim.
All rooms had high gloss paint instead of a satin finish...bleech!

I have bow painted two bedrooms completely, and the living room, the ceilings in one bedroom, and the ceilings in the hallway and the living room as well. The hallway is primered and ready to paint the final color, all trim in the house except the pink bedroom has been redone as well.

My youngest daughter wanted a green in her room, I went with a nuetral sort of dark tan color and my oldest daughter wanted blue. The Living room, bathroom, hallway and kitchen will al lbe a tan/khaki color.

10-12-2005 Update

Painted my daughters ceiling, patched the hole in her room, need to finish mudding it up and smoothing it out. Painted the doors in the living room to match the walls, which I think looks a lot better! Also finished painting all of the living room, and hallway and stripped the bathroom of the wallpaper and it is ready to paint as well!

And now the latest pics:

And now more pics with some furniture:

I also tossed all the metal bi-fold doors on the closets and bought some wood ones to replace them, I hate metal doors in a house...yeech! Put up some of my venetian blinds as well this weekend, more work to do , but it is coming along well..

11-19-2005 Update
And now some photos with furniture and stuff on the walls, and a TV even. 🙂

**Thanks to all those with tips and help, much appreciated!**

If they are under contract with the realtor, they can't do private sale. They may take the 135K, but they will still fork over that 7% commision

They have a friend who is a realtor, they asked her opinion, and she gave them a number for a quick sale. They wanted to put it on the market in mid to late July so they had not signed any paperwork with her yet...

As a bonus, they are going to give me the stove, fridge, dishwasher and washer/dryer so they dont have to take them to Carolina! They are also throwing in a new snowblower form like last year and a brand new lawn mower!

Isn't that typical?

Well, if I had bought a house from someone who was staying local to the area, I am sure they would take it with them.

Just got off the phone with the mortgage comapny, i need 3% down (so about $4200).
Looks like things on that end are moving along well.

Most houses usually need a wife. Better get shopping:evil:

Congrats though on the house. The girls will have fun.

They accepted my offer, so I go to the mortgage company tomorrow to fill out all the loan paperwork! I was pre-approved so I dont see any hitches coming up!
Anyone have any ideas on how long it takes to finish up a loan app?

None yet, I need to do that soon, want to get some before and after pics of the work I am going to do. I plan on putting in new hardwood floors right off the bat (before I move in) most likely going to go with Bamboo.

that stuff happens faster than you're probably comfortable with. if you're pre-approved, things run smoothly..

congrats.

Cool, they want to close around August 19th, but they will stay in the house until September 15th, of course they will pay the first mortgage payment to stay in the house, and it gives me a chance to do some work while they are still in it...

The girls are already all excited, we picked out what color they want their rooms a couple of nights ago, they were giggling the whole time. 🙂

Yes, it happens very quickly. Within days, I'd guess. They want to get you before you start having second thoughts 😛

 to bamboo. Strong and ecologically responsible.

A friend of mine has them in his house, they look great and are tough as nails. He is going to install them for me, he did his and he has it all down, lucky for me!

I will say that you should make no plans until everything is done. We cursed ourselves a few times for making plans before everything was done.

You had an inspection, correct?
