Bought 1.2GHz AthlonB

Just bought a retail cpu🙂 If anyone is interested here are its specs;
  • A1200AMS3B
  • AXIA0108VPCW
  • Y6058550571
  • 27016 is written on bottom left corner
  • It will run 1.2GHz at 1.6v(had a Duron in before and forgot to reset the voltage😱) on my KT7A using a FOP32-1.
  • Seems to run stable at 1.35GHz at default voltage . It will run at 1.388GHz but requires the highest voltage setting. Locks up or won't post at anything higher🙁
  • Oh I'm using a generic 300w p/s

the power supply is your culprit

The PSU and the Abit board are your culprits. It's a 1.4GHz on an IWill. I have same problem with coming up short on the Abit. 😉

isn't AXIA B supposedly not a good OCer. My friend had one with epox and enermax psu...he got 1.38...or somewhere around there. But it could've just been a bad OCer...get those once in while.

Isn't there also a difference between retail and OEM and how they OC? I remember someone saying that in the fourms...like the OEM's are better...don't remember the reason but i just remember seeing that.

Thanks for the input guys. I agree it might be the p/s and the Abit too. I had to try the generic one first(heh heh-I guess I'm cheap). Do you think the 350w Enermax will work now and then later with an Athlon4? Oh here are some temps and SiSoft2k #'s at different settings;
  • 12x100 1.6v 36/26C CPU Dhrystone 3771(22886088)/FPU Whetstone1676(901657)

I'm running the same set-up as you but with the 266 bus 1.2 and the KT7A and my results mirror yours pretty much. I'm changing from ABIT on the next motherboard purchase and upgrading this 300W supply, I can get this chip into windows at 1.4 but it crashes at Sandra... I also wish I would have went with the 1.33 bird, not sure if the 1.2's are as wise of a purchase, probally will sell this one and get the 1.33 in the next few days.
