How much GPU is too much GPU for a single PCIe x1 lane?
The reason I'm asking is because I just stumbled across the ViDock 2, which is basically an external GPU that you can connect to a laptop via Expresscard. Since Expresscard is connected to a PCIe x1 lane, I'm thinking that the graphics performance might be limited by this, but I want some evidence. So, does anyone know?
I've googled this to hell and back, and I know at least one manufacturer (Albatron) sells a 9500GT with a PCIe x1 slot only. The problem is, I can't find a single benchmark of this card. I was hoping to compare the x1 benchmarks to the regular benchmarks to see how bad a bottleneck might be.
