bottle rockets cause fire in roseville, ca

so basically there was a fire started due to some idiots using illegal fireworks in the field behind our house

you know the sound of bottle rockets going up and pop
well i heard two of them go off around 11pm last night and didnt think anything of it
15 minutes later someone is knocking on my door but i dont get up to answer
then they knock again another few minutes later

my wife then goes and checks and there are apparently people outside still and she is wondering what is going on
she then sees the smoke billowing in the air

we have a 2 story house and can see everything just up in blazes

i had her call 911 to report the fire and it took the firefighters way to long to get to it, its in a field behind the house and they were in front
they then dragged their hoses through a neighbors yard and proceeded to put the fire out

fortunately for us the wind was on our side
it was blowing away from all the homes that were already built
there was no other damage but that was not a good feeling watching a blaze go on not too far from my back fence

Crazy. When I got off work at 9:30PM last night, I could tell people by me had the illegals going. (Near Folsom/El Do)

Is there a firework that goes into the air, makes an amazing booming sound, but makes no light?

i was in bed trying to sleep
then my kids told me someone was knocking but i thought nothing of it
until of course my wife told me to come upstairs and watch the real 'fire' works going on

No, they're illegal because people like you ignore that millions upon millions were lit without any incident, but in at least one instance, a fire was started.

Just a guess here, but I'll bet there were more serious fires on Thanksgiving from dumbasses using oil deep fryers in their house than there were from fireworks on the 4th of July. Oddly, most people see the deep fryer fires as being caused by people who misused a legal product due to their own stupidity, but they see fires caused by fireworks to be a result of a dangerous product... not necessarily due to irresponsible use of that product.

That doesn't change the fact that this is the reason why they are illegal.

And I'm someone who did put on a fireworks display, and a couple houses down lives a police officer who also put on his own illegal fireworks display. 🙂

Actually, thinking about it more - I'd say that fire was probably started by them doing something else even more stupid, and they just used the bottle rockets as a more convenient excuse?

i went to the calexpo show, it SUCKED! i was in teh center area of response / exposition .. i had a decent view but it sucked!

i was surpised with the placer county show off of washington
they did a really good job, we were basically under the launch site and debris fell near us
it's always fun to get hot smoldering firework ash on ur body
hahah
