It's been working for a few hours now on ps4. I'll be surprised if Sony doesn't give out a free month of ps+ to all subscribers for the trouble. I haven't been able to play since the 24th til now

I too got the email saying my sub expired. Nice that the worthless company can send out emails but can't keep their website up and functioning. I won't be re-upping.
I just got my expiry notice this morning. I won't be re-upping because I don't want to pay $40-50 year to have unlimited access to junk bin indie games. I will get my plus membership again if/when they make available a quality aaa title, like they have in the past.

Playstation store on ps4 just loaded for me.

You still need PS+ to play online if you have a PS4. I hear you though. It's been awhile since anything decent has come out on the service. Especially on the PS4. 2014 has been a pretty disappointing year for gaming overall though. Well, unless you're a Wii U owner.

I still don't get this complaint. I mean, I love Smash and Kart on my Wii U and all, but there is such a quantity gap with the Wii U that I disagree that they're the exception of disappointment. I'll give credit to Bayonetta 2, but I don't know when/if I'll get a chance to play it, since my Wii U is at my sister's, and we just play Smash/Kart on it.

However, despite the lack of a phenomenal, all-time great game in 2014, I still really liked what I got on my One. Watch Dogs wasn't amazing, but I enjoyed it. Shadow of Mordor was easy and had a letdown of an ending, but I found the Nemesis system entertaining, and just fighting enemies at random was fun. Sunset Overdrive was polarizing with the humor, but I thought it was decently funny, and I had a lot of fun just goofing around. Titanfall's story was terrible, and it didn't leave a lasting impression, but it was a well-built shooter. Advanced Warfare is definitely better than Ghosts. Halo definitely struggled out of the gate (and continues to), but it's running OK now, and the campaigns were still a lot of fun. There are also the divisive titles like The Evil Within and Destiny, and Forza fans mostly liked Horizon 2.

I'll grant that 2014 disappointed, relative to expectations. Titanfall and Destiny were huge letdowns, but they were technically sound and have their fans. The Evil Within was a similar case on a smaller scale, and Watch Dogs didn't end up close to the GTA killer people hoped/expected. I still think that losing The Division and Dying Light is a big reason for the overall letdown, but to be honest, I can't say it's any worse than 2013 (which didn't offer much of anything I care about AT ALL), or even 2012 (where quantity was again lacking).

Umm the system is just a year old, they aren't going to be giving away fairly newish $60. It'll be the same as it was on the PS4, the games we got were older games, many great ones but older. We won't be getting good games for a while.

I have a PS3 and Plus copies over to that. They stopped giving decent games away with Plus for the PS3 as well. Most of it is indie trash or so esoteric (e.g. justice league) that it doesn't have a broad appeal. Bioshock infinite and metro last light were examples of solid titles. Outlast was the one that stands out for me on the PS4.

Kind of surprised they haven't yet released Transistor with Plus actually.

read an article supposedly from someone within lizard and said they had been targeting psn and xbl because of them charging for the online portion of the service.

hard to hate them after hearing that :)

No, it's not hard in the slightest. Have they DDoSed the World of Warcraft and The Elder Scrolls Online servers for the same reason? Not that I've heard. Whether you like what they're doing or not, it doesn't justify the action. At the end of the day, they offer a service for a monetary return, and if you don't like it, don't buy it. I was pissed when EA started the Online Pass thing in 2010. Did I go try to destroy their services? No, I just didn't buy any games from them for about 5 years.

Optional gaming prices don't justify what is borderline cyber terrorism, and probably harassment, at the minimum. Shoot, even the game in your sig, Rift, was pay-to-play at its beginning. Did you try to DDoS it for that?

Psn hasn't worked for me all day today. I'm about tired of this shit, since the 24th I've only been able to play one day online

the only way I got back online was by setting up the internet connection again, leaving most everything automatic but setting MTU to 1473 instead of 1500. I read it on twitter and it was the only thing that fixed it.

Their original claim was "we are doing this because Sony and MS are stoopid! And refuse to pay someone to stop this kind of attacks," so, what they say is pretty much a bunch of idiots.

And, the numbers being claimed for the traffic is larger than any other DDoS in history.

Don't mistake these guys for some kind of activists. They're nothing more than petty vandals. It's like spray painting "my ex is a whore" on a mailbox, then trying to tell the cops you're the local Banksy and you did it as a social statement.

Lizard Squad caved because 4Chan declared war on them. Now they're trying to weasel out of their wrath by making up some BS holier than thou excuse. Guess what, there are consequences, and better hackers than them are gamers too.

Hi guys. ddos retards are not hackers. Kthxbye

Pretty scary that some ddos retards can do this, though.

I think they should be publicly quartered, but it does bring illumination to the fragility of all this.

So you're telling me that gaining control of enough bandwidth to send the largest attack on record, three times the size of the previous largest DDoS, requires zero hacking ability?
In fact, they simply sat at home, and used their OWN PC to do this?

When you over simplify an attack like this you sound like a retard yourself.

The vast majority of the participants have zero ability to hack up a chicken, let alone another. Most of these are a single person writes a script or program to do the DDoS and distributes it either as malware or an executable to idiots willing to take part.

The size of the attack is disturbing, as it shows they (lizard squad) either have a vast network of infected PCs (large botnet) they can use at will, or they have a large amount of idiots willing to saturate their connection with request spam. Also, it is Lizard Squad themselves making the size claim, so I'd take it with a grain of salt.

True we do have to take the size of the attack with a grain of salt.

Either way, silly to downplay it as a simple "He wrote a script and hit "Execute!" and in the same breath go "They spent all Christmas doing this!"

Whoa, you sound almost as dumb as the alleged Lizard/Finest squad neck breathers giving an internet interview on YouTube, calling each other names and making yo momma jokes.

You respect their "power". Cool story bro, I guess.

neck breathers

WtF, are they all severe former-smokers or something? It's like you got confused trying to decide between calling them neckbeards and mouthbreathers. I just found the chosen insult to be rather strange, yet entertaining.

Taking advantage of weaknesses in a system is tactically competent, even if it entails using a lot of pawns to do it.

Wat? What awareness is being raise?
The awareness that Cloud computing is very prone to being hacked and being taken down by DDoS GUI tools anyone can download on the internet :(

Where do you prefer your data? Private network or public?

People keep saying "wah it was a bunch of losers that can't even hack so they resort to ddos". The manner of attack method is irrelevant to me.
It's a vulnerability and usually you attack vulnerabilities. That's the intelligent thing to do anyway.

If people claim this attack is as easy as it is, then why are you so happy to continue using a service that you've essentially claimed is so easy even a monkey can write a script and take it down.

That's what's mind boggling to me.

The intelligent thing to do would be to ask the companies to look into ways of mitigating the attacks yet the whole psn community in the most vocal gaming forums online have agreed that:
-This attack is so simple anyone can do it.
-This attack is pointless to attempt to prevent against because it's impossible.
-We will cry about this whenever it happens despite knowing we signed up for a service that is vulnerable to attack and that we don't think the attack is able to be prevented.

How does that line of reasoning work...
