Both digital and analog connected

Just on the off chance, is there any problem with having both digital toslink cable and analog cables connected from sound card to speaker at the same time and just switching back and forth between them through software?

I wasn't sure if there was some weird reason to always disconnect 3.5mm analog cables when using digital connection and vice versa.

Nothing wrong with it...but really no reason to connect them both. If you have a good sound card just use analog.
