Hey all,
I'm having a bit of a dilemma right now. Maybe someone can help me out who has more experience than me.
I live in South Jersey and have lived here for about 4 years .... part of me always debates that its kinda dull down here and as soon as I graduate college this May or shortly after I was considering moving back to North Jersey, which is where I grew up.
Anyway, I dated a girl for about 2.5 years who went to school in Boston. I went to visit her ALL the time. We broke up about 2 months ago, but still constantly talk. Anyway, shes really the only person I know in Boston. While visiting her, I really grew to LOVE the city. I loved going up there. I'm going up there in March for a conference even though she won't be there (shes currently studying elsewhere for a semester).
Anyway, part of me wants to move to Boston instead of North Jersey because of how much I like it. I really only want to move north... my options are to stay in south jersey, move to north jersey and work there or in new york, or move to boston and work there... those are the areas I like.
I'm having trouble deciding whether I like Boston only because the girl I love right now is there, or if i really like the city. Or maybe I like the city because I have memories of her tied to that city, and if I lived there WITHOUT dating her or seeing her, I might realize its not my favorite place to be.... but I don't know. Deep down inside my heart yearns to be up there to be happy (or at least in that area), but at the same time, without her in my life, part of me thinks I might not like it as much.... I associate her to boston and that might be one of the main reasons I enjoy it so much.
Anyway, some people are saying I probably like it and should just go if I want to. Others are saying to move up to North Jersey, get a place (I have a decent amount of friends all over North Jersey because its where I grew up), and then see where I am a year or two from now....my family is in North jersey so I know I woudln't be bored! Most people agree that I should get out of South Jersey, which part of me feels is necessary in the next year or so (not right away).
So.... what do you think? Do I like Boston, should I pick up, go there (no matter what happens with the girl), and see what happens? Of course this would mean I would need to get a job there, but I could send out resumes. OR, should I chill in South Jersey a bit, and eventually move to North Jersey and spend some time there (hey, its about 1/3 of the way to Boston anyway!)... then see what I want to do once I'm over the girl?
The girl should be left out of this anyway. I LOVE her a lot .... but .... this decision to move to Boston / North Jersey or not move to Boston / North Jersey should only be based on my life, and not really her at all ... in case we don't ever get back together, etc.
Thanks for the advice!
