The Boston Tea Party was pretty [Tame] in my opinion, what we need is a French Style revolution and put the entire political class and all the oligarchs to the guillotine.

What was pretty about it? The costumes? The moon over the harbor?

Compared to what?
I hate simplified history, this is a sketch only.
Somehow the French and Indian war was fought in North America. With Euporean commitments the Empire government decided the North American colonies should support British troops and Naval presence in North America.
Please remember, most manufacture was illegal in the colonies, and goods must be shipped to England to travel legally.
Also the Aristocracy was absent, many Royal officials crooks, and serious court could require trips to England, where some cases took decades
The Stamp Act was intended to fund the N A military presence, and undoubtably provide Royal graft.
Agitation, riot and subversion defeated the measure, or made it too expensive to enforce.
The compromise reached in England, was to create a Tea tax.
The colonies in general, and the more extremist colonists, detested this face saving attempt.
By dumping Tea in the harbor, the colonists offended the British government a good part of the British public, the East India company (almost a nation itself), and the British military.
At this time "reading the riot act" meant, after reading it, troops were free to inflict beatings, injury or death. Bullet or bayonet.
So yes the event took place before the military could react.
It is also true, if betrayed, a military force could ambush "the Indians," read the riot act, and fire on anyone not dispersing. Or argue the point afterward.

Sounds like someone has a criminal record, otherwise I have no idea what the fuck the OP is talking about.

What's wrong OP? You don't have the right kind of ID? Forgot to register to vote? Mental patience aren't allowed out to vote?

Or is this just another one of your dumbass posts with barely any coherence to it?

A real Boston Tea Party is something that as individuals we can subscribe to.

Kick out those starting in power, and their cronies.

Elect fiscal conservatives like Ross Perot.

Tell the religious freaks to go away.

All while the number of people with serious mental issues continues to rise (see about post for example or any number of threads on P&N).

Perhaps these mentally ill feel unrepresented even though their numbers appear to be significant. Maybe that is the nature of their mental illness, to be thick as fleas, but feeling lonely.

While disguising their individual faces was imperative, because of the illegality of their protest, dressing as Mohawk warriors was a very specific and symbolic choice. It showed that the Sons of Liberty identified with America, over their official status as subjects of Great Britain.

So much so, that they decided to take all of the land away from the very people they identified with.

Surely the French Revolution couldn't be at least partly attributed to the French peasants and their refusal to grow food crops, like potatoes, in lieu of the cereal grain crops that were failing year after year during the "Little Ice Age" that was decimating Europe during this period, right? I mean, why blame the peasants for their starvation when they refused to help themselves. Heck, even the royalty was encouraging the populace to grow crops that were tolerant of cool temps, higher moisture in the soil, and shorter growing seasons, like potatoes are, instead of relying foolishly on wheat, barley, etc., crops that were failing repeatedly across Europe...and which almost everyone had almost abandoned in favor of potato crops, well, everyone except the French.

Yes, there were other influencing factors that led to the French Revolution, but one of the main driving forces was the population's starvation...because the French were too ignorant to eat a crop that would have saved hundreds of thousands of lives as it did in England, Ireland, Germany, etc., etc....essentially, all across Europe.

The deep fryer hadn't been invented yet. There was no way for a Frenchman to cook a potato. :colbert:

If we ascribe to the notion that there should be no taxation without representation, and the person I vote for doesn't win, then it stands to reason that I shouldn't have to pay taxes, yes? My interests aren't being represented; no taxation for me, thanks. Now I've just got to stop voting for the winners every damn time.
