I am the executive assistant for the Regional Manager of our company. We have a great relationship and are always joking and goofing off.

He is turning 50 and having a HUGE birthday party this weekend. I want to get him a gag gift, but not one of the silly generic ones they have at Spencers. I also don't want anything of a sexual nature since he is my boss.

Can anyone give me some creative ideas????

Thanks a lot!:gift:

I would advise against a gag gift unless you are very very very friendly with your boss. People get offended by things you would never consider offensive. It is not worth the risks.

Do what my mom did when she turned 40: have a funeral. Get together with the rest of the officefolk and stage a funeral. Get black baloons, a bunch of lily bouquets, and an appropriately death-oriented cake. I do recommend against a black cake since the dye makes it taste really bad. Get a chocolate cake as close to earth-colored as you can find, then before the party cut a little rectangular "plot" in the middle of it and put a plastic coffin inside, then a headstone, etc etc. If you get a really good baker they may be able to do something really cool-looking around that. Oh yeah, I'd recommend checking Wally-mart for some vampire-oriented toy to get the coffin out of.

Beyond that I'd say denture cream or maybe a sponge-bath kit.

Keep neffing like that and you'll be a Senior Member by 2006! ;)

I agree totally with JHS' comments. No gag gifts for bosses, unless it's so inoffensive it's not really funny! Even if you have a "great relationship", what he might have found funny just between the two of you might not be received the same way in a crowd of people. I witnessed a gag gift backfire a few years ago. Everyone laughed it off, but the guy who did it is still paying the price job-wise (except he doesn't know it, since no one will tell him).
