Boss has a 386 laptop

Very old but works fine! Runs Windows 3.1 I think.
But it boots in to DOS instead of windows automatically. How can I make it boot straight to Windows?

I didn't know which forum to post this in so sorry if this is wrong.
 
Yeah. type "edit c:\autoexec.bat". Back up the file first (copy c:\autoexec.bat c:\autoexec.bak)... you don't sound confident 😉.
 
Wow, I hate Windows 3.1! I couldn't navigate to the C drive so I had to open the file through notepad's open menu. Anyway, I changed it and it worked, yay!

Wow, I've used DOS before for file movement/deletion but never to edit. I'm too used to Linux I guess. Thanks for the help guys!
 
that is one old laptop!!! I didnt even know they made 386 laptops! Does the battery still work? but I started using computers back in '85 wit the atari 512XL (or somethin like that), then I got poor and couldnt afford a computer till '96, and it was a P-166 w/ win95. those were the good ol days...
