Yep. It's in the article. Impressive performance, especially considering it wasn't even the Boss 302 Leguna Seca edition too (which gets wider wheels, and DOT-R tires).

I like this. Saw a brand new dark grey one today on the way to my final pulling into the local Infiniti dealership. /drool

Was the R8 ever really a fast car?

It was hardly slow, but it was knocked some for not being the fastest in a straightline, although its handling made up for it. I mean, its 2 seconds faster than an M3 at Laguna Seca, so that should tell you something.

The R8 may not be the fastest car, but damn does it have style. Beautifully designed.

Another way of looking at it, is a front engine RWD steel bodied strut suspension coupe with cup holders and a back seat and trunk is .001% , slower than a purpose built plastic mid engine supercar that also costs 4x more.

R8 is what 500hp? That should put a beating on alot of cars in a straight line. Edit: 420.

Yeah, actually, it was very quick on the track. Straightline, no, but on the track, it does amazingly well.

People who buy the R8 buy it for the looks / name not for its track performance.

yeah, I was talking to a guy who had just bought one a few months after the v10 came out. I asked him why he didn't get the v10 and he said he didn't care how fast/powerful it was.

Wait, which R8 are they comparing it to? I don't see any mention of whether it's the 4.2 V8 or the 5.0 V10.

Either way, that is a very impressive car, and I like the rasp of the exhaust note when he's in the Garage. I like raspy exhausts. ;)

At this point I'd just like Ford to sell it in the UK officially. We've let you have the Fiesta and Focus, it's about time we had some quid pro quo. :p

The V10s are slower than the V8s on some tracks. They're both a joy to drive though.

I saw a fake orange/black 302 the other day on my way home. Had the paint scheme, but you could tell it wasn't a real 302 when you got close to it.
