I hear Bose speakers in music stores, cafes and public places all the time. They sound pretty acceptable (at least in those environments). I'm guessing all the hatred for Bose comes from their pricing, rather than the product itself (as in sound quality)?
A lot of BOSE hatred comes from incorrectly set up systems from early in the 70's / 80's.
It was easy to
not purchase the active processor and instead use some other crossover system and end up with audio garbage coming from a box with a name brand on the front to blame. Today's BOSE processors are far less expensive, far more flexible and overall more useful within the overall system.
I absolutely HATED them until becoming involved in commercial sound system design and installation in San Francisco Bay Area in 2000.
The new stuff is much better.
If my mom likes her WAVE radio & cd player, then fine, whatever. wtf do I care how she listens to her country rap and reggae folk music mash ups.
btw, today's crap audio gear is light years better than the audio crap built and sold in the 70's.
