I find it funny that some bose hater elitist would know better than you do what you like.

If you like the bose setup, then good for you.

I like the bose in my car personally. It has decent lows and good highs and ok midrange.

I have had QC2 for 2 years now and I love them. Planes, trains, and automobiles, they rock. I am not a huge Bose fan and I think their stuff is generally overpriced and under quality. I picked my QC2 up for $75 after gift-certs from Discover through Sharper Image, so I got a good value out of them.

I hear Bose speakers in music stores, cafes and public places all the time. They sound pretty acceptable (at least in those environments). I'm guessing all the hatred for Bose comes from their pricing, rather than the product itself (as in sound quality)?

I can imagine they might sound pretty decent if you've never had the pleasure of experiencing real headphones.

JW, did you listen to ANY other speakers before buying the Bose? The QC2's sound great before comparing to something else. Throw on the Senn's HD600s on after you listen to the Bose, and you would be able to imagine your $300 flushed down the toilet. Yes, they're that bad.

Yes, Bose makes a perfectly acceptable sounding $50 speaker. It's that they market it as a high-end speaker and that people pay high end prices for "acceptable" sound that makes it funny.

if he wanted closed headphones he could've gotten audio technica a900's for ~200.

A lot of BOSE hatred comes from incorrectly set up systems from early in the 70's / 80's.

It was easy to not purchase the active processor and instead use some other crossover system and end up with audio garbage coming from a box with a name brand on the front to blame. Today's BOSE processors are far less expensive, far more flexible and overall more useful within the overall system.

I absolutely HATED them until becoming involved in commercial sound system design and installation in San Francisco Bay Area in 2000.
The new stuff is much better.
If my mom likes her WAVE radio & cd player, then fine, whatever. wtf do I care how she listens to her country rap and reggae folk music mash ups.

btw, today's crap audio gear is light years better than the audio crap built and sold in the 70's.

HD280s FTW. Nothing beats a good pair of closed circumaural headphones, except a good pair of open air circumaurals.

My buddy got the QC3 and they have phenomenal noise cancelling capabilities. I couldn't hear anything on the plane.

personally even though I use other speakers I find the threads from people who don`t like Bose to fall into a few different catagories

Too expensive......
People who believe in anti Bose FUD.....
People who have never listened to Bose products but follow party line....
People who genuinely don`t like Bose for whaever reason.....

Sort of like peoples opinions about PSU`s.....
Costs to much...
You get what you pay for...
For the price you pay for one PSU I can buy 10 cheap PSU`s.....
Then we have different brands of PSU`s....

and the stoopidity keeps going on and on.......

He likes Bose all the more power to him!!
His 300 dollars not yours....etc

IEMs provide better sound quality and isolation than the noise canceling in the Bose QC2.

my creative ep-630's probably do a better job...
granted that's an exaggeration, but seriously: the only thing bose is good for is style and comfort, and even audio technica has a pair of phones that are geared more towards that, and are also way better sounding.
Ye old sound quality chart...
sony (street style etc.)<bose<seinheiser(low end)<sony(good stuff)<audio technica (low end)<seinheiser (high end)<audio technica (high end)
That's not including IEMS
Ety, shure, ultimate ears, westone, all are of superior quality

Its a debate of value. It isn't that Bose things are BAD, just that that same 300 bucks buys you a crapload better quality if you get a better brand.

bragging about your bose is like bragging you just spent $1k on a new computer with a celeron.

it gets the job done and you can be happy with the purchase. but man, you could've gotten so much more without spending more. :)
