As far as the broken one you could just replace the drivers to fix it. They should be pretty cheap. Just call up bose for replacement. Heck they might even repair them for free.

Like I've said in the past, too many people rag on them for just that... they probably don't have anything near what they sound like and can't hear the differences themselves...

Thing is they aren't bad speakers. They sound pretty decent and have good power handling. Sure you can get a better speaker for the price, but it's stupid to rag on them for just being bose.
