I was into OC in the past but due to school and work, cost and time didn't allow me to indulge in my OC pleasures. :)

Now that I have time and money again, I have decided to pickup where I left off and start pushing limits. So with that, I started reading how people are doing and with what on the boards here.

I am a gamer at heart, so this rig will be my main gaming unit. I also want to play around with lighting just to play!

Purchased and waiting for delivery

Proc: Opteron 165
Mobo: DFI Lan party UT Nforce4 Ultra-D
CPU cooler: Zalman CNPS9500 w/LED
Memory: 2GB (2 x 1GB) OCZ gold PC4000
Case: Thermaltake Tsunami Dream
Case PS: OCZ powerstream 520W w/LED
Drives: 74GB SATA Raptor 10K RPM
Video: 7800 GTX 512M
Sound: Soundblaster x-fi
Misc: DVD burner

Any or all comments are appreciated. I take criticism very well.
Are there any drivers or BIOS updates that are required? Goodies like that.

Thanks ahead of time.

What DVD burner did you get?

System looks good.

The only thing that sucks about that case is that you won't be able to use all the lower 3.5" bays for more HDDs since the newer video cards are so long, & that case isn't.

That's really only an issue if you plan to have a lot of HDDs though.

The P180 is an amazing case. Only complaint ive heard is that somtimes PSU cables dont stretch far enough, i have one and i found that to be an exageration. Get a P180

Well the parts are already ordered and being tracked, so I will let you know if I like the case or not.
More HDD's isn't an issue for this system. Its my gaming system that will only be used for gaming. I have 2 other PCs built up for other duties connected to 3 TB storage in my basement for archive, etc.

I have not yet purchased the DVD burner. I am doing some research as I am very unfamiliar with them. Just know to look for +/- RW. I have time, seeing as the parts aren't here yet. :)

I think your setup is pimpin. I love the way those cases look as well. I think in the end you'll be happy with it. AS per the DVD-RW, I've got the NEC drive talked about and I will vouch for its quality. The other drive people seem to lean towards in these forums is made by Benq.

The Zalman 9500 is a good CPU cooler, but is overpriced. Either get a much cheaper XP-90 or XP-120 (almost exactly the same performance, much less $$) or go for the Thermaltake Big Typhoon if you want the absolute best air cooler around. The Scythe Ninja with a 120mm fan is a good choice as well.

Otherwise looking pretty solid. The Opteron 165 is a great choice if you can find it (I'm in Canada, and they're unavailable here :( ).
