Boring saturday, feel like spending money that i dont have.

Well im bored, i have no money to spend, and i just have that urge too look at new computer parts 😀 So im planning a build for the summer time to upgrade from my A64 3000+ to a Core 2 Duo system, gona get "budget elaborate" here. Size is an issue, I dont wanna go bigger then my cooler master elite case here, and i love the cooler master designs, especially the centurion and the elite, i would really like to go Microatx this time so thats what im planning, i am not currently aware of any good microatx motherboards for the core 2 duo platform as of yet though. I am also unsure as to whether i want to stick with air cooling or go with a small water cooling system....as of now, im gona plan for a air cooled system. Heres what i have in mind...

As far as hard drive and video options ill prolly use my 7600GT for the time being and ill buy either a 250 or 500 gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.10, now for the cooling options 😀 this is where the fun begins....

First off i plan on modding the case a bit, do some cutting for wire management and air flow, ill prolly spray in the case in some kinda rubber coat for sound damping in key areas, for case fans i plan on using...

Dual Noctua 80mm Fan NF-R8 for the exhaust

and a Noctua 120mm Fan NF-S12-1200 for the intake side

For CPU cooling i am unsure, i have to take case dimensions into account, the design of this cooler master case is excellent for airflow in my opinion, lets examine the case for a moment shall we?

As you can see, the motherboard is positioned upside down in this particular case, which means the CPU is on the bottom rather then the top, meaning it is away from the heat of the PSU first of all, and secondly, if you know anything about air its that cold air sinks and hot air rises, so the cpu will be positioned in the cooler part of the case.

There you have it, its saturday, im bored, and i feel like pretending im spending money 😛 feel free to comment, because eventually i will be building this system :bigthumb:

spraying the sides of your case with rubber will have minimal effectiveness. You'd be MUCH better off with a corsair HX series PSU (OEM seasonic + modular) and with Nexus or undervolted Yate Loon fans. Don't bother with using sound absorbing material unless you change the components first. It has almost no effect. The sound will escape through vents.

See if you can mod the case to use rear 120mm fans instead of 80mm fans. Or make ducts to adapt 120mms to 80mms.

Use vibration mounts on the HDDs if you really want to.

For CPU coolers, thermalright and scythe have several good coolers; the ninja and infinity to name a few.
