Based on your list, it seems we have a similar taste in games.

If you haven't played the original Quake, check it out. It's a total classic of the genre. Gameplay, art style, it's all awesome...

Gothic 2 Gold is another RPG on my list of old favorites.

Gothic and Gothic 2 are great suggestions as far as single player experiences go. I think they're among the finest ever made.

I've sort of given up recommending them because:

1) those who know about them but haven't played them often have a pre-concieved negative notion about them that isn't worth fighting.

2) the controls seem to baffle an inordinate number of players. (You mean you have to press ctrl to perform an action? Hold on now - I didn't sign up for this level of complexity)

But the settings - the prison colony in G1 and the island of Khorinis in G2 - are great places to explore for a few months.

Got my i3-2120 rig with HD6870, plays BF3 beautifully at high settings.

I suddenly realized I'm bored with the games I have. I have played quite a few titles. Anything good I should try? Older and new are fine. I like RPG, Action, FPS, anything is good.

I've played:

-All HL series
-Portal 1 & 2
-BF3: meh
-Diablo 3: disappointed
-Skyrim
-Deus Ex 3: Great game.
-Fallout 3: couldn't get into it
-Deadspace: couldn't finish, too linear & repetitive.
-Just not into ME3 or The Witcher 2 for some reason...

so on.. I'm looking for single player experience.

How is FEAR? Is it too old- how about its sequels? Bioshock seemed okay, too puzzly for me. How is Crysis II? I played 1 for a bit, couldn't finish. Gears of War good?

Any other RPGs I haven't mentioned? I enjoyed small games too - like The Bindings of Isaac.
FEAR 1 & 2 are excellent "Corridor FPS" games that where stand out masterpieces in there time I recommend if you are after just a solid old school FPS game I can't wait to try out FEAR 3.

I know you specifically mentioned that you don't like console stuff, but Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Revelations are very well done for console ports and they're damn fun provided you have a controller (Xbox 360 controllers aren't terribly expensive and they work perfectly out of the box).

Alan Wake is also a console port but it's got some killer graphics and an engaging story; good if you like more spooky, tense, story-driven games.

Batman Arkham City is excellent; you shouldn't let the console crossover steer you away. It seems like it would be hard without a controller, but others have said it works with keyboard, so there you go.

Serious Sam 3 is some good fun in the tradition of Doom and the like. Just ridiculous, over-the-top, monsters everywhere shooting gallery. It's not quite the breath of fresh air the first one was, but it's still good, especially if you can find it for $10-15.
