You know, I really need to get a small camera and just walk around taking pics. My DiMage S304 is just too damn big to be portable.

Size doesen't matter to me. Infact, I would rather have something I can hold onto than something thats twice as big as a CF card.

I just got this camera to learn the basics of photography, since it has full manual settings.

I plan on working my way up to a full blown digital SLR.. probably a Canon Digital Rebel.

Yeah well, my DiMage is also heavy as hell. And it doesn't fit in my pocket... and it goes through batteries sooooo fast.

😀

The A series may barely fit in a decent size pocket. They're pretty small in the scheme of things.

I get about 350 pictures out of a charge if I don't use the flash. But I got myself some top of the line 2200mAh batteries, so...

Damn... my DiMage only lasts an hour and a half no matter what using four 1600 mAh batteries.

Hmm..

Looking at the specs of the S304, it's not half bad..

It's only slightly larger than my A60(114 x 65 x 59mm vs. 101 x 64 x 32mm). It has a higher resolution(3.14MP vs. 1.92MP).. The A60 has better zoom(3x vs. 2x). It is a bit heavier, at 423g vs. 315g.

The A60 is also capable of taking better macros, with a 5cm minimum focus distance, compared to the S304's 16cm.

It's still not a bad camera though.

But I hate lugging the damn thing around. It's still big, and the lens stick out. And its heavy. And uses batteries. I want something smaller.

Yeah. Sounds like you need a Canon S-series. 🙂

I'm sooo tempted by that SD100 deal in Hot Deals, but I'm on a [gulp] spending freeze!! 🙁

so you killed the spider right?

No, of course not. When I heard that it was going to be dipping into the 20s outside, I caught it and brought it inside. I have an aquarium set up for it. I plan on seeing if I can keep it until next spring.
