bored looking for some type of game machine

I can't decide between the ds lite or game cube. I am just looking for overall good fun. What is the life cycle on the portable game devices? Do you think the end of life for it is coming in the next 2 years? I am just looking for a system to play some good fun games on. I do like the DS looks because it looks to be snes gameplay which i truly loved. Also for the Wii fans I think it will be cool, but am not really digging the new controller though I give props to Nintendo for the new innovative ideas instead of the same old junk.

Cliffs: Gamecube or DS lite?

I vote DS if you just wanna have some fun. It's a great portable system and it'll stay with you even after the Wii comes out and makes the GC obsolete.
