Ask me anything you'd like about Law School or otherwise... I'll be here till 4PM or so. As my sig says, all the jokes are true.

Regarding all these V-Day posts, is it wrong that I instinctively think about World War II instead of Valentines?

I have been out of college for four or so years but I now plan on sitting for the next LSAT (June I think). So, is law school that boring?

Does everyone BS their way through the college? I mean, that's all you have to do after college

Somebody hands me a really hot pop tart and I get a second degree burn from it.

Is that tart a tort?

bradruth - I don't think it is "wrong", but matters of "right" and "wrong" are often hotly contested.

Legally, you are covered :)

At the current pace, will you be able to answer even 5% of the questions asked. That said, did you know what you were getting into when you began this thread? Do you wish you hadn't posted it?

:D

Babbles - law school can be either very exciting or very boring. Some subjects, like Contracts & Property, I find very interesting because I have an interest in commercial transactions and because I have experience in entrepreneurship.

Other subjects, like Criminal Law and Constitutional Law I find less engaging, but this may be due to the nature of the subject or the professor teaching it.

Agabooga - I am waiting for a debate to start (Civil Rights in the post 911 age), I am in the eastern time zone, and I do not know the meaning of life.

SweetSweetLeroyBrown - Penoyer v. Neff is a famous case generally used in Civil Procedure classes to illustrate old notions of court jurisdiction. In order for a party to be sued in a state in personam (personal liability, etc) it used to be the case that the person had to be physically within the state in order to be served notice of civil action. This standard is no longer in use - I could talk at length about state "long arm statutes" and related theory but that could easily fill several pages.

where do you?

Do you think law schools would like my work experience? i dunno if my gpa will be enough, so i'm going to try to compensate some with LSAT scores.

you're bored? aren't you supposed to be holed up in a library somewhere?

Agabooga - I have no know precognitive abilities so I cannot tell about your future.

911Paramedic - A poptart cannot be a tort. Generally a tort requires action on the part of a person that breaches a duty to a plaintiff.

freesia39 - I would say that as a general rule of thumb, your LSAT is 45% of your application, your GPA is 45% of your application, and all the rest is 10%.

Good work experience can help, but it won't make up for poor numbers. Anyone considering Law School should (1) work extra hard in undergrad and (2) study like hell for the LSAT.

I didn't do either of those, but my scores were good enough to get into a solid regional school.

Bradruth - I dont' know a whole lot about ATOT - a friend recently showed me this forum and it looks interesting.

Ok I must go - the debate starts in 2 mins.

Okay, I just sued this guy that owes me money and I received judgement for the amount I was seeking. Now I've got this piece of PAPER that *officially* says he owes me $ but he still refuses to pay (big surprise there). What's my next course of action?

Edit: d'oh, I just missed the 4:00 deadline.
