Borderlands-Was this the real Ending?

Recently restarted playing Borderlands after having stopped playing a yearish ago out of frustration regarding the Controls. That didn't bother me this time though.

What puzzles me is the Ending. I think I may have inadvertently cut it off or something, but perhaps not. I'll Spoiler Tag the details:

So I fight/defeat the final Boss, then whatsherface says to me, "You have opened the Vault", then it immediately rolled Credits. Did I miss a Cut Scene or something? It just seemed so abrupt.

Oh, one more thing, was there really just 1 unique Weapon then just some, not even a lot of it, random normal stuff to Loot from the Vault?

Ending aside, thoroughly enjoyed it and will go back to play through with the other Classes(played Siren this time). Highly recommended to anyone who hasn't played it yet.

Yeah. When you read that people disliked the ending to Borderlands, you weren't being lied to. 😛

I was confused too and didn't really give it much thought. The intro to BL2 pretty much sums it up though.

Wait, Borderlands had a story? I remember over the top fun, except for that stupid clap trap boss.

It wasn't much of a Story, but was tons of fun. Was just expecting some kind of explanation or something.

It tied in the opening of the vault with what happened in Borderlands 2 (the appearance of Eridium).

Yeah the ending left me going WTF as well.

I just beat it like a month ago, and started doing some of the DLCs,but got bored fast. I guess I should do it via coop but on PC, i can not find very many games.
