I went ahead and rented this tonight, just to give the franchise a whirl. I beat the campaign (but not the DLC) of the first, and I beat most (if not all) of the second game's campaign, but never made it to the DLC, either. I have those in GotY form on Steam now, but have no co-op partners, so I thought I'd rent The Handsome Collection for the experience of the third installment, mostly. I'm not sure if I'll turn this into a purchase because I have no known co-op partners just yet, and given that all of my other retail titles right now are shooters (Halo, Titanfall, CoD AW, all digital), I'm still leaning towards waiting for a sale on a non-shooter with online components.

Anyone else get it, and any thoughts?

I thought about getting it when I heard (not sure how true) that you could pull the saves from the 360/PS3 over to the new versions. I lost steam in the games somewhere around the second DLC for Borderlands 2. I'm not sure why, I just had a hard time having interest in it. I tried again with the D&D like DLC but wasn't able to get into it past the second mission so I moved on.

I am kind of in the same boat. I've been playing a lot of The Pre-Sequel, and while it's a fun, free-wheeling game I can enjoy, I really don't expect myself to buy it for more than $30. A lot of the comedy is good, but never varied, so it's grown stale with the third game in the series. I already miss Zed, as they apparently went Affirmative Action and replaced him with a big, Russian lady who's not nearly as interesting (though that might change as you go along in the game; interactions have been minimal with her).

I'm also not sure how I feel about the new mechanics. The low-gravity movement is quick and fun, but it also makes the game too easy, even in a solo experience. Floating enemies are easy to handle with sniper rifles, for example. I'm playing as the chick with the shield, and I'm level 9. I haven't gotten too much into her leveling experience, but I don't feel that I made the right choice. The tree I'm in is very elemental-heavy, which is fine on its face, but it REALLY wants you to go with shock and fire damage, particularly shock, and so you're locked out of a lot of weapons you find.
