I searched on google and it's just basically a bunch of people with the same question.

It's pretty shitty trying to go to your inventory screen just to use a medkit especially during a fight.

I never even knew you could use MedPacks...

Didn't need to either :D It was either too easy or I was wiped quicker than I could react.

I always assumed a med-kit is something you use after a fight, if you don't have a HP regen shield. Otherwise yeah, like Elcs said, either you plow through the enemies or you die fast :p Or if you're a Siren, you just ignore everything and sprawy enemies with your HellFire/Double Anarchy :D You can perhaps try to run a bit away, cover and quickly apply the med-kit?

Tbh I maybe used two med-kits in the whole game... The penalty for death is just money and you hardly use it for the most part (and useless in the end parts of the game). Every death in the end was something like 120M for me :D

There are two kinds, one of which is fast-acting and designed to be used in battle.

But yeah, I had no luck finding out if there's a hotkey. Good news is that the game pauses in SP when you open your inventory, so it's only a liability in MP. Sucks.

The vials return the health instantly, but they also return far less HP. But since they return HP instantly, you can use more than one at once if necessary. Med packs return HP over time (something like 10s), but return a lot. As a Siren, a med pack + Phasewalk can do wonders. Roland's Sentry Turret tends to work for this as well and both aforementioned abilities can be talented to return HP as well.

As others have said, you're not really encouraged to use the instant health vials during combat at all. Grab them mid-fight when they fall from the enemy you just killed and they will instantly apply to your health. As for the med kits, save them for when you are in cover.

Just use transfusion. Toss a few grenades and head for cover. Instant vials are good but the medpacks are worthless. They're cheap also, totally not worth keeping them in the backpack.
