Borderlands - PS3 or 360?

I've been searching around and as usual there are pros on cons for both. Some say the framerate on the PS3 is more stable, some say the 360 has a better view distance and textures, etc. Anybody have any real conclusions as to which is the preferable version? Multiplayer is dead last on my list of cares.

everyone here has 360 version it seems.'

FYI--multiplayer is the most important part of this game.

I know it's all about the MP, but I said that so I could get some responses on the technical differences instead of every reply telling me how much better Live is than PSN, which I already know.

got the PS3 been happy to buy and support Gearbox and the amazing game. What I'm not amazed was the trash port I got on the PS3. Yes I love the game its amazing but the trash you handed me was not.

PS3: Server List: If your lucky you will search for a online game and it only pauses like 5-10min if your unlucky it does the same thing but freezes in the 5-10min.

PS3: Crashing: Crashing is random and happens a lot once your server list did load and you join another players server and bang it crashes on load. If your lucky and that went by fine then you end up crashing later on randomly. During a Boss or anything.

PS3: Corrupted Characters: Very rare at this point. More people play the longer their games go the more chance they will get a lag/freeze or the great crash and they will get corrupted characters. It has happen to me once it was just a level 17 character but it was annoying anyways.

PS3: Host low FPS: If you are the host you will get slow downs like crazy. when I say slow downs I mean if I were to guess like 5-10 fps slowdowns when your shooting all you see if flash freeze flash freeze death. It happens since the processing load for the AI i guess ain't being balanced right? Maybe Gearbox is only using 2-3 CPUs?

PS3: Single Player FPS: Not as bad but I also feel like its sort of the same thing with the host part where it slows down like crazy. Not sure if this can be exactly same thing since your local box is controlling the ai.

PS3: Digital Audio: For some reason on the PS3 there is a bug where and I'm no programmer but the audio kicks out like it feels like one the threads process the audio crashes and reboots it. It's not something to die over but very annoying and strange.

PS3: Split Screen: I'm sorry but I don't know what to say. It was bad enough one person lost there character but now you can do 2 at once. This has just the same issues but a lot worse. It feels like GearBox forgot to test this function out. To be fair I'm just letting you know in this post you get the works above but more frequent like crashes fps loss. Not to mention the horrible UI scrolling to see it.

PS3: Friend List: Now I don't know what you did or PSN did wrong here. You did fix it sort of. But I have random crazy people I deleted and removed as my friend that now can see me and I can see them playing and even annoying me by trying join my games.

I'll be picking up the PS3 version when I do get it. I just don't see the point in getting the 360 version of a cross plaform game, especially when I like the Playstation controller more.

Note the large bug list for the PS3 version....

You're asking the wrong people, most people here seem to care about the multiplayer and how much fun the game is.....not about every technical spec and detail.

Irrelevant. Games can be patched, and I don't plan on picking up Borderlands for a month at least.

Also, after suffering through all of Fallout 3's bugs I think I can handle BL's 😛

well then you should be good. Hopefully they patch the ps3 bugs quickly. I'm just amazed at how big the list is. Great game though, tons of fun.

I just bought the 360 version since I saw the game runs on the Unreal engine (never really followed the development, had no idea it used it) so the obvious choice was 360. Unreal engine + PS3 always = very bad things.

Since when? All of the comparison vids I've seen look identical.

I thought it was common knowledge. That's just the top hits. There's plenty more if you search.

Console and PC Gaming should be combined.

CoD:MW2 proved that.

Check out this console comparison video.

I'd have to give a slight nod to the PS3 based on this video.

😕

they looked damn near identical. Only thing I noticed was denser fire on the 360 and a few tiny things.

1. Textures load faster
2. When it shows the "house", textures seem to be sharper on the PS3 version
3. Ground textures seem to be sharper on PS3 (this may be because some of the dark colors look darker than in 360)

Like I said, slight nod. Probably undetectable to most.

You guys can examine the graphics with a magnifying glass and nod about things, but personally I'd pick which console to buy the game on based on something more significant than barely perceptible graphical differences. The biggest factor for me would be the controller.

That would be terrible.

Oh, of course. Don't forget about friends, either!

For me, all of the cross platform games come down to one thing when multiplayer is involved. I much prefer XBL to PSN.
