I have one question, which is better for playing with someone who has a satellite internet connection.

It was mentioned XBL can handle lag batter, but I have no idea how/if this works. Steam would be the likely choice for PC.

Any advice is appreciated.

Beware, on the PC Borderlands is VERY picky about opening ports on your firewall and router and even then it's not 100% reliable. If the only deciding factor is the connection, then I'd pick 360 all the way without question.

I got it on PC because I don't want to pay extra for downloadable content, but other than that, I think they are almost identical. You would probably have a better chance finding games on the XboxLive, but configuring your ports isn't hard.

To be perfectly honest, I would suggest renting this game rather than buying it. It is a good game, but once you play through once, its done. Everything is the same on the second / third playthroughs.

Maybe you just didn't like the game. For me, the 2nd playthrough was funner than the 1st. It was almost like a different game with the better stuff I was getting. I maxed out one class, and I have a character started on each of the other classes. Believe me... there are plenty of people that can get nearly 100 hours out of this game.

Everyone has different tastes, and I would put this at one of my better buys at the full $60 for me.

And your other reasoning doesn't make sense because the expansions cost $10 for everybody regardless of console or PC

I'm only interested in the lag issue, and I think I'll go with the 360.

what do you mean when you say 360 handles lag better than pc? i've never heard of anything like that.

I was wondering the same. Doesn't make much sense to me.

Either way, I dug Borderlands (I played on PC). I played it as a single player game so I have no idea about lag, but it was fun.

My only complaint is that there isn't enough content to get you to the level cap of 50. Their solution to this is to let you do multiple play throughs with the same character, which is kind of bunk IMO. The odd thing is that there are plenty of side missions, but you out level them too quickly to make them worth doing. I'm not sure why they didn't just balance the levels of the side missions and main quest line and make the final mission in the game a level 50 mission.

If your planning on using a sat internet connection to play games then you've got bigger problem than which platform to choose, because it won't matter. Average latency for a sat connection is 400-800ms on what is considered a good linkup. The subtle differences in lag that "might" exist between two platforms are trumped by the large difference in lag your gonna get by your sat internet connection versus land based internet.

Have you never played Diablo? Or Titan Quest? Or any of the other billion Diablo clones?

I liked and recommended Borderlands, just pointed out that there isn't enough content to hit the level cap on the first play through. I don't care if it's been done before, I still think it's a cheap device to get you to buy DLC.

Wat.

No, the point is that you replay the game on the next difficulty to get better equipment and higher levels. What does it have to do with DLC?

Diablo clones do this a lot, and it has nothing to do with DLC. Diablo had no DLC.

Same for me. Second was much better than first.

Because not everybody wants to play the same game over again just to get better loot, and by leaving the game somewhat 'incomplete' they encourage you to buy the DLC.

...we simply disagree on this point, and I don't see either one of us changing the other's mind. Borderlands is great (and I bought the DLC), but I would have liked to be able to hit the level cap without having to do the same stuff over again. Plus, I think the game would have been more fun had the ending been a higher level mission. Just my opinion.

well you could always just grind like any other rpg type game...

and this is a rpg loot based game. hence the claims a billion guns..

the point of the game is to questing to find the gun of your dream. same with any loot based game. if thats not what you were looking for then all you have in this game is a very weak storyline.

exactly. you never would hit the level cap in any rpg game. without multiple playthroughs or never ending grinding....

i dont even think you would hit the level cap in shadow complex in one playthrough..

Ok, might as well reuse this thread.

Anyone know if two people on one console can play with another person over the internet on another console so all three are playing together?
