Are you sure? It sounded like the free multiplayer was only for this weekend, but that you still keep the game once it's over. You just can't obviously play multiplayer without Gold after this weekend. It was MS way to get more people on Gold.
 
no, not sure. i really only skimmed the article since i dont have a xboner and already have this on pc. i could easily be wrong. my bad.

I do believe this is correct. I picked it up but haven't tried it yet, but this was my understanding as well.
