The slain man had been throwing rocks and a piece of nail-studded wood, which struck one of the Border Patrol agents in the head

At that exact moment in time, they committed assault with a deadly weapon, on the Border Patrol agent, whose partner responded in kind. Case closed.

And to the Mexican government, who is complaining about it.....keep your people on YOUR side of the border, and this wouldn't happen.

There have been documented incidents over the past 5 years where drug runners have used military hardware (not just rifles) across the US southern border.

The Mexican military has also locked horns in standoffs with the US border patrol on the US side of the border.

The Mexican military is much better equipped than the BP and the BP stood down while the Mexican shepherd people back across the border. They prevent the BP from taking them into custody.

while such may not be an official policy; it happens enough times that it should be considered to be unofficial.

the Mexican government has publicly encourage their people to enter into the US illegally if needed and does not attempt to prevent.
Maps are provided freely on the best ways; coyotes operate with impunity.

The local Mexican authorities are fully aware of such, but turn a blind eye.

If that is true, then it sounds like an invasion, and should be treated as such.
