Booze run

I live in a dry county, what a pain in the ass, 70 mile round trip.

To make up for it, I picked up $110 worth of booze

3.5L of whiskey
1.75L Tequila
1.75L Gin
1L Pinot (Yeah I saw Sideways, thought I'd try some)
5L box of Burgundy (he he, I love wine in a box)
6 pack of Guinness extra stout

Anyone else live in a dry county?

Fvck no. I can go down to the local supermarket at 3:00AM and buy all the liquor I want from beer/wine to vodka/gin/tequila...you name it.

what kind of tequila?

i grew up in the DFW area...those liquor laws are ridiculous IMO.

Puerto Vallarta Tequila, nothing special... I hadn't bought alcohol for so long, last time I went I was amazed they put it in plastic bottles now...

i went on a motorcycle trip to Deals Gap in NC/TN and we were staying in a dry county. We were bringing back cans in the tiny trunk of our bikes.

So, party at your place? Can we feed your cat some tequila? 😀

I had a suprise birthday party planned for my brother once. About 100 people invited. I was having it at my house, out by the pool. We had a band and everything. I went to pick up the beer/hooch in my friends pickup. I had 4 kegs, about 5 cases of different beer, several boxes of liquor etc.. in the back. I was pulled over by a state trooper. He walks up to the car shining his light in the bed of the pickup. He looks at me and says

"planning on doing a little drinkin:?

Dry county? I have never even heard of such a thing. That does not sound to bad to me though, there are definitly areas where alchohol does alot of damage. For us here in WA state they segregate the hard a, only liquer stores can sell that and they are open limited hours. It works for me though

I live in LV and Reno...so I have no CLUE what you're talking about 😀

Edit: Fredom++; Liberterian++;

Edit 2: The grocery stores here sell liquor, it's really quite awesome.

Never heard of it? Oh, I see where you live. 80% of counties here in KY are dry. That's what we get for living in the Baptist Belt state.

Same here! 😀

I like dry counties. It's a NIMBY thing. Living next to liquor stores sucks. Noise, piss, smoke, noise, drunks, noise, trash.

that just means that its quality liquor 😕

Here in Alabama, although maybe only here in Huntsville/Madison they voted in alcohol sales on Sunday. I have no idea how they got that one through.

Also the Jack Daniels distillery is located in a dry county, Moore County I believe.

The grocery stores here sell it too, but only until 1AM. But you can drive an extra 10 minutes to cross the Iowa border and buy it until 2AM.

Nope, not here. I live in SE Va which is a bastion for the SBC. And we are far from dry. There are 3 ABC stores within easy driving distance from my house. Plus every gas station, convenience store, and supermarket carries wine and beer.

Stationed at Reese AFB by Lubbock back in 1967 - that was a dry county.

There was an 'Annex' area from an adjacent wet county that ran up the side
of the highway for about 10 miles that was technically only 50 feet wide . . .
and it turned into a 'Lollypop' at the north end where all the liquor stores
had to do their business in a 300 x 300 foot compound store sales zone.

You could buy a bottle & take it into the town clubs, but you had to rent a
'Locker' and pay an Attendant/Waiteress $ 5.00 per drink to use you own bottle.
The 'mixers' were on the house, so they were just shifting responsible costs.

The one thing that was really tricky was that if you were stopped in transit with
containers in your vehicle, the 'Unit of Measure Count' could be used against you,
and you could be charged as being a 'Bootlegger' if there was a total of items that
went over the magic number of '6' - where a bottle counted as 'one', a case or a
package of beer counted as 'one' but an open six-pack or case with a bottle removed
AND two bottles of spirirts each counted a single items - Eg., 5 beers + 2 wines
totaled 7. You're subject to arrest for having exceeded the magic number of '6'.
