I bought a new Maxtor drive and got the free (after MIR) Ultra ATA/100 card along with it.
When I boot up, it displays:

Ultra 100 Bios version 2.01
...
D1 Maxtor 40gb
D2 blah 9gb
D3 not found
D4 not found
(that is all correct)

IDE Bus Master Enabled
Strike F1 to continue to f2 to enter Setup.

So I have to hit F1 everytime I turn it on, is this normal?
F2 brings me to the Dell Bios, F1 goes into Win98se.

<< Strike F1 to continue to f2 to enter Setup. >>

You see this non-fatal error message when the BIOS detects an out of range parameter in the setup. It allows you to correct it in setup by hitting F2.

If the problem is done on purpose, such as a high Vcore voltage for overclocking, you can just disable the offending item in BIOS.

hmmm.
i think it may have to do with the fact that i do not have SCSI as my first bootup choice. that way it will go to the card first and right into the HD.
and i guess i might as well set the auto-detect option on the drives to NONE.
i just have this gut feeling like the installation was incorrect...
