In general, Windows can take a long time to boot up if the network settings are set for dhcp, and the comp spends about a minute trying to receive an IP from a dhcp server unsuccessfully.

If your comp has a network card but is not actually on a network, then you can go into the comp's network card settings and assign it a fixed bogus IP address. This way at least it will not attempt to grab a dhcp IP address at boot-up.

There are many variables, so it is hard to give you all the answers for every case. I suspect it has to do with the network settings. Could you provide some more details about the network? Is your comp actually on a network? Does it have a network card installed? More than one card? Are the network adapters assigned a fixed IP address or do they receive a random dhcp address?

This will help narrow down the problem.

heya. i dont use dhcp on my router or on windows. in fact i disabled the dhcp service. Im on a linksys router sharing internet cable connection. I set the ip manually 192.168.1.101 (ip) 192.168.1.1 (gateway)
linksys router and network card with latest firmware and drivers.
