Yes, there are caveats, and yes, this is one of Sony's promises that may or may not go anywhere, and yes, they have to do something when they don't have true bleeding-edge hardware, but (1) they're starting from total lockdown, and (2) everyone else seems to be moving in the other, wrong direction. This is a good and unexpected sign no matter how you look at it.
