booting with no video card

i'm trying to get an older socket 7 board to boot without a video card.. the guy i got this board off of says he ran it like that all the time, but i just get the standard no video beeps and thats it. i dont have a spare card for this machine (yet) and i wanna leave it in the corner running seti until i get one .. i have 'halt on: no errors' in the bios ..

it's an epox ep-5bvpxb ..

any ideas?

If it can be done someone around here will know, so you came to the right place. I have never attempted to do so and off the top of my head I'd say that guy is full of it.

It can't be done. Your video bios is part of the system startup process, if it isn't there the system isn't goin anywhere.

I'll bet the guy you got it from is confusing "without a monitor" and "without a video card". Either that or he isn't taking his meds and the delusions are kicking in...
