i installed win2k first, then used partition magic to make a partition for linux (and its swap) and booted via CD with the linux CD, installed, and used lilo as the boot manager. you gotta edit the lilo.conf file to add windows 2000 to the lilo menu, but it's quite easy and i'm sure with a search you could find exactly what you need to add. just make sure to RUN lilo after you edit the lilo.conf file. and you shouldn't have to edit the boot.ini file at all.

Install LILO on the Linux partition that houses the /boot directory. From Windows, run bootpart (from www.winimage.com) to add Linux to the Win2K loader menu.
