Booting thru a PCMCIA CD ROM drive???

I have a Toshiba Portege 3480CT laptop. I want to format the entire 12GB harddisk and re-install the OS using the supplied Product recovery CD-ROM. My question is how can I boot the PC with a PCMCIA CD-ROM drive? Can someone talk me thru this process? I know re-installing the OS on a laptop with no internal floppy and CD drive is a little different and some preparation needs to be done with regards to boot disks and drivers prior to formatting the system dard drive. I am using the Multimedia port replicator with the laptop but with an aftermarket PCMCIA CD-ROM drive. The floppy drive is thru a USB port.
