Booting question

I have a Soyo moptherboard with 2 ata/33 connectors and 2 ata/66 connectors. On the ata/33 is a 7 gig Maxtor HD as master, a zip 100 as slave and a CD-rom as master. On the ATA/66(highpoint) is a 20 gig Maxtor HD as master. Is there a way to keep it set up this way and make the 20 gig maxtor the boot drive? I can only seem to get the 7 gig ata/33 HD to boot for me. I have formatted the 20 gig as bootable. Is my only solution to put the 7 gig on the ata/66 controller?

Thanks! 😀

is there a boot from ata first setting in the bios? If you enable or "yes" it , it will boot from it.

No it has boot from ata or SCSI first. It is set for ata, but will goto the 7 gig anyway. It also has boot order and will let you select:
C,A,SCSI
D,A,SCSI
E,A,SCSI
F,A,SCSI

Choosing any of those still boots to the 7 gig drive

If you've tried setting the bios to boot scsi first, then you may have already gotten your system to boot off the ata66 channels. Take a look in your device manager, if you see a scsi controller in the list but you don't have a scsi controller. Then what you may be seeing is your ata66 controller

It shows the ata/66 as a SCSI controller, but I also have an adaptec 2940 SCSI controller in the system.
