booting problems with IC7

After formating and reinstalling XP(note: no problems with the install). I restarted and now get a curious beep that I havent heard before. a siren type beep with one tone higher then another lower then it repeats. kinda like a police siren. yet it still will post and I can get into the bios. Everything looks a - ok temps are at a normal level. but I dont dare let it go any further because of the bad beeping. I have tried to just go with the basics of 1 stick of ram one hd and nothing else but still the beeping continues.
system specs:
P4 2.8
Abit IC7
Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB VC
4 Corsair 256MB sticks of Ram
IBM 120 Gig HD (with OS)
Maxtor 80 Gig HD
Stock Cooling

any flags going up of what may cause this?

well, last time i heard a beep like that, was when i put an xp2800 in a board that doesn't support it. only support a 266fsb chip. looked in the manual and it said that beeping was damaged cpu or overheating cpu. you have an intel so i don't know if the same rule applies. you also just installed xp without a hitch. so i haven't the slightest. just have a gander in the manual for its beep codes.

I know that there are no conflicts with hardware since I have had this system up and running for quite some time now. I just formated my OS HD for a fresh restart. what gets me is that the beeping started after the reinstall was finished and I just started to work on smaller things like programs and a few driver updates.
