I need to low level format my WD hard drive. I downloaded their tool and made a diskette from it. I then changed the settings in the bios for it to boot from a USB Floppy. But it doesn't actually boot off the floppy. The boot order is : 1. usb floppy 2. disabled 3. disabled When i reboot, the light on the floppy drive comes on for a sec as if it's reading it, but then it stops and continues to boot from the hd. Any ideas how i can get it to boot off the floppy so i can low level format my drive?? Thanks.

Oh, i'm using an asus kv8 pro mobo.

Try using only one of the USB ports adjacent to the PS2 port, at the back of the machine.

Hi, Did you make the floppy bootable when you formatted? Use Windoze format and specify to COPY SYSTEM FILES ONLY or add it to the format to make another. If using DOS Format add /S as in FORMAT /S. Either way adds the necessary boot files to the Floppy. Same for any bootable drive. Luck, Jim

you may also want to download the Ultimate Boot CD and just do it that way. It has all the major HDD manufacturer's tools on it for you plus a lot of other handy stuff.

Unless your BIOS supports boot from a USB device, forget about it. So, why not put the same stuff on a bootable CDR and use that?
