Booting from second hard disk using IWILL KK266-R

I am having a problem booting from ANY hard disk other than the Master on the Primary IDE, and wanted to know if anyone else is seeing this too.

I am using an IWILL KK266-R mobo which allows in the BIOS to select which device to first boot from; these choices are available (among many others) -

HDD-0
HDD-1
HDD-2
HDD-3
.
.
.

My old mobo didn't allow to boot from any hard disk other than the Master on Primary IDE ... but when I saw these options in the IWILL BIOS, I was overjoyed thinking I'll be able to multi boot easily between Win2K, Win98 and Linux.

Right now I have two hard disks on the primary IDE - the master is a Quantum Fireball AS Plus 40 GB (ATA100) and the slave is a Western Digital 20 GB (ATA66). The Quantum one has Win2K in its first partition and the WD has Win98 in its first partition. The IDE channels in IWILL are ATA100 ... if that makes any difference.

Now, when I set the first boot device in the BIOS to HDD-0, everything works fine and Win2K boots perfectly. But when I set it to HDD-1, I get a "DISK BOOT FAILURE" error.

Anyone know what's going on here ? Am I doing something fundamentally wrong ? Is what I am trying possible at all ?

TIA !!

when using W2K and W98(Dual boot), it is not a problem. W2k automatically set itself as a default OS. But dual booting with Linux or more than 2 OSes, you need a OS manager software. I personally used System commander software and it worked pretty okay. I believe there's a software written by PartitionMagic. It suppose be a pretty good OS managing program. Hope this helps.
