Hi all...

I did some case mods, and when I rebooted I have this error.

This system was rock solid. K7 master, 1.4 T-bird (not OC'd - no heat issues), Maxtor 60g HD, Radeon 7500, W2K SP2

Fix attempts ....

1. I re-imaged using Ghost.
2. Re-installed W2k.
3. re-flashed Bios

And I still cant boot without the W2K CD in the CD drive. (It just checks to see that its there ...)
Then boots.

I even removed the CD as a boot device in BIOS.

Did my new HD die?

HELP! ... im ready to barbaque the stupid thing....

#1 what case mods did you do?

#2 Is the CD-Rom after the HD in the boot BIOS?

I added a Cold Cathode light to a PS lead that only has fans on it.

And yes ... i didnt change the order of the boot process.

Floppy, HDD-0, CD-ROM

I have almost completed the W2K SP2 download process. Jeeze I wish I had the SP2 disks ...

I beginning to feel this is a hardware problem.
Once I get done with the W2K online upgrade process,,,,,

Ill make another GI, then try swapping the CD drive with another PCs'.

Any other ideas ???

I have identified one of my problems.....

I have forgotten about the 4x AGP issue with this MB... (K7master)

My windows didint accually corrupt... Although I did corrupt it during a hard shutdown during the Login Freeze that was the result of the 4x AGP problem.

Turns out I never Shutdown (hard boot) the PC after installing and running with my new Radeon 7500.

I was running almost a week before I used the power button (to install cathode light), so when I did finally hard boot,,,, my PC would freeze during the Login Process (hangs on "logon screen" or "Applying user settings..." or when displaying desktop)

The remedy is the same as the 4x, pull the power plug out (if you shutdown) for 22 seconds.

BUT!!! .... my Windows "Booting from ATAPI CD-ROM:" is still occuring.

Does anyone think that this video card could be causing this MB to do this?

And ... I know I said this B4 .... but dont buy MSI.... Its a gamble ...

My 1st purchase from MSI has been a nighmare of Fixes ....

if you are booting from a cd-rom, the cd-rom should be first

My hard disk is BEFORE CD ...

And ... I cant boot without my W2K CD in the CD-ROM.

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
