I need help setting up a DOS (or Win98's Dos) diskette that will connect to a Win98 share for copying files. I already have the .dos and .inf file for my network card.

Any help? Anyone have a floppy that does this already that I could download/copy?

Thanks!
Jon

The biggest thing is the drivers on the network disk need to be the same as your card. If you have a 3com 905C card you need to make sure that the drivers are on the disk. Not any network boot disk will work. If you goto support.microsoft.com and do a search on there knowledge base you can find a white paper on the exact steps to take creating one. I have one for 3c905 b and c. If your card is one of these email me and I will send it to you. If it is not then it is best if you create one following the directions on the white paper.

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure you have to map the destination drive before you use it. I've never tried to directly access a network drive before mapping it, so I dunno if it'll work, or how you would even do it.

No prob.

Also, I think I had to use the original DriveSpace that came with Win95A to get it to make the compressed floppy correctly. The DriveSpace3 that came with my Win98SE won't let you see the uncompressed section of the drive if it's under 2 MB, and you need to see it to be able to make the disk bootable (you need to add a file after it's compressed).

I used NetBEUI as my protocol for the network client...I dunno how well IPX works.
