Bootable D.net diskette copy

Hello TA,

It's been a while since I have been around here I know, but I finally got some free time now so I decided I would get back into the fold. I was shocked to see our position in RC5-72, I realize this isn't a very popular project, as it seems it will never finish, but still, TA should be able to muster more than 18th position.

I am going to do my part. I have 3 computers here, a 3000+ Athlon 64, an Athlon 1200, and a PIII 600. The Athlon 64 and the PIII are running fine, cracking great. However, the Athlon 1200 wants to be stubborn. I am running knoppix on it right now because it was the easiest distro to get my hands on it at the time. Windows won't install on it period, Fedora didn't install on it either. Knoppix runs fine, until I start the client, it then promptly freezes. I think it my be a hard drive problem. I know back in the day, Klinux was developed for running diskless cows, but it seems the link for it is broken now. Does anybody still have a copy of this? or perhaps now of something newer?

Thanks

hmmm, the links are bad for me also. I know I had a working Klinux floppy at work. I'll check Monday and, if nothing else, can send you a diskette. I ran it for a long time. I just wasn't happy when it rebooted due to power problems since it didn't autoconfigure itself (not enough room on the floppy). Those computers now all have hard drives (they are old and slow drives, but it just doesn't matter).

take a look here for a similar setup:

Hey JonB,

Thanks for the info, Gahnix looks like a bit too much for my application, but if you can find that klinux disk, you can just email me an image. No need to snail mail a diskette.

Thanks,

I used to run klinux, but cannot find it now. I've put a call out to some folks who still run dnet to see if they happen to have a copy. I'll keep ya posted. 🙂

I was able to get ahold of several distros. If you are interested in downloading the Klinux DNET distro, PM me and I will provide download information. Don't want to publicize the link as not to kill my bandwidth.

If anyone would be interested in hosting these distros, PM me and I'll give you the info as well.

🙂
