bootable AV and anti-spyware?

are there any free bootable AV or Anti-spyware programs out there?

i have a system that I am working on that boots to the desktop but completely freezes after that. the AV on the system knows there's a virus but i can't get in to do anything.

That's awesome.

I surprised that none of the security companies have something like this. You download the latest ISO, burn, boot and scan away.

You can even update the tools while using the bootable CD if you have internet access.

I ended up getting the trial version of Kaspersky (at work and we use norton 10, which doesn't appear to have a rescue disk option) and creating a rescue disk with that. found 6,689 virus objects...it seemed to clean most of them but not all. There was stuff in the temp internet files folder but bart pe would not let me get into it to delete them.

i just formatted the HD and started over with the restore discs since the owner didn't have anything special on it.

Be sure to discuss prevention with the owner or you'll be the clean install boy on a regular basis.
