BOOT_DEVICE_LED on Asus Z97-A staying on – what does it mean?

I just built a new system, and I can access the BIOS without issues (although at one point it froze for some reason), but the BOOT_DEVICE_LED is staying on all the time – what does this mean?

I had 4 devices connected at first:

SSD#1 - new/unformatted
SSD#2 - win 7 + another partition
Drive#3 - Regular SATA drive
DVD drive

I disconnected the 2nd SSD and 3rd drive, and the light stayed on. Then I also disconnected the first SSD, and the light went off (only the DVD drive was connected).

I tried moving the SSD from the 2nd to the first SATA port, but it made no difference.

Any idea what might be happening?

According to the manual, it will light up during POST while the BIOS is searching for a boot device. Since the BIOS doesn't really know if a boot device was successfully detected until an OS takes over (INT 13h), I'd expect it to remain lit until the OS starts loading (an OS installer counts as an OS for this purpose).

Are you attempting to boot the Windows installation located on SSD #2 or are you trying to do something else?

I think at the time I was just in the BIOS, wondering what was going on.

I think it went off before I started the Win 7 installation, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, all is good for now.

Thanks. =)
